Abstract
Quantum averages of the Wilson loops (holonomies) are calculated in gauge theory on a noncommutative plane using a path-integral representation of the star products. It is shown how the stringy representation of two-dimensional Yang-Mills theory is reproduced at large parameter of noncommutativity
